【摘要】:Somepetroleumproductsaretreatedwithmineralacidaspartoftherefiningprocedure.Obviously,anyresidualmineralacidinapetroleumproductisundesirable.Theabsenceofapositiveindicationinthetestforacidityofthedistillationresidueoraqueousextractofahydrocarbonliquidisanassuranceofthecareusedinrefiningthefuelorsolvent.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthequalitativedeterminationoftheacidityofhydrocarbonliquidsandtheirdistillationresidues.(Warning-Manyhydrocarbonliquidsareextremelyflammable.Harmfulifinhaled.Hydrocarbonliquidvaporscancauseaflashfire.)1.2Ifdesiredtodeterminethebasicityofahydrocarbonliquid,proceedinaccordancewith9.2or9.3,butsubstitute3dropsofphenolphthaleinindicatorsolutionforthemethylorangeindicator.Apinkorredcolorintheaqueoussolutionwhenphenolphthaleinisusedindicatesbasicity.1.3Theresultsobtainedbythismethodarequalitativeexpressions.However,forthepreparationofreagentsandintheprocedure,acceptableSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyproblems,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
